HIGHLAND GAMES

The Highland Games is a spectacular showcase of physical prowess, endurance, and skill, and has long been known as the Scottish "Olympic Games". Steeped in rich history and tradition, this event is a true celebration of Scottish culture and heritage, and offers an opportunity to experience the excitement of ancient Scottish athletic competition.
As a participant in the Highland Games, you will form a team of 4 to 6 individuals and compete in a variety of challenging and thrilling events. From the caber toss, where participants must lift and flip a large wooden pole end over end, to the hammer throw, where competitors spin and launch a heavy weight as far as they can, each game is designed to test your strength, technique, and determination.
At the end of the day, the team with the most victories will be awarded the coveted winner's cup, a symbol of their exceptional athletic ability and team spirit. But more than just a competition, the Highland Games is a celebration of Scottish heritage, and offers a unique opportunity to connect with the rich cultural traditions of this proud and storied land.
To help you fully immerse yourself in the spirit of the games, we provide kilts for the duration of the activity, ensuring that you look and feel like a true Scotsman as you compete. So gather your friends, lace up your shoes, and prepare for an unforgettable day of competition, camaraderie, and Scottish culture at its finest!
The Challenges:

The various events in which you and your team will participate are as follows

  1. The caber toss: the famous tree trunk toss

  3. Bale Toss: Try to throw the straw bale as high as possible.
  4. Stone Put: Throw the stone as far as possible.
  5. Tug-of-war: well known to all, this activity does not only require strength but also good teamwork.
  6. Scottish Sumo: can you push your opponent out of the circle?
  7. The Highland Fling: Who will do the best performance of this traditional dance?
  8. Sheep Herding: Can you get our real sheep back into their pen? It takes teamwork to get them back in the pen.
  9. Javelin Throw: Who will throw the javelin the farthest?
  10. Axe Throwing: throw the axe and stick it into the trunk! Maybe you'll even manage to throw it in the middle?
